Via Dolorosa - 14 dove And the dove came back to him in the evening, and behold, in her mouth was a freshly plucked olive leaf. Genesis 8

Merkavah 09

Last autumn Jan and I took part in Merkavah, a 'Journey of Light' across Israel and the West Bank, focusing on traditional and communal dances. We visited various communities, saw and learned some of their dances, and took in many of the sights that no visitor to the area would want to miss.

For both of us it was our first visit to Israel, and we went with our eyes - and ears, and taste buds - open wide.

Merkavah was organised and led by dance teachers Frida Zalcman and Pablo Scornik, and you can see an outline of the trip on Pablo's Tinkudanzas website.

Afterwards we visited Bustan Qaraaqa, a permaculture project in the occupied West Bank, and then spent a couple of days with relatives in Israel.

As we went along we kept a brief diary of the visit in this blog, with a view to expanding the entries and going into more detail when we got back. We're now writing up the blog bit by bit, and uploading photos and short movies, and linking to them from here.

Please feel free to browse, comment, ask questions, add your own experiences.
